The ASAP BetterRxCard prescription discount card is free to New York ASAP association members, patients and their families.
It’s easy to use. Simply print a card and take it to your local pharmacy.
The pharmacist will enter your ASAP prescription discount card numbers into their pharmacy system to identify the discounted price for your prescription medications. The amount of discount can vary by medication and by pharmacy.
If you have insurance, it is likely your co-pay amount will be less than the discount from this card. However, you may ask the pharmacist to provide a comparison price. You can elect to use the most favorable cost of either your insurance or the discount card price. You will always be charged the lower amount of either your co-pay amount or the discount card price. The discount card is not insurance and you cannot combine your insurance and the discount card together.
The discount card is not intended for Medicare and Medicaid patients. However, if you are taking a medication which is not covered in any portion by these programs, you may use the discount card. As an example, those patients who find themselves in the Medicare doughnut hole period in which their medications are not covered in any portion by Medicare. In this situation the discount card may be an option.
If you pay a lot at the pharmacy for brand name drugs you can try our EquivaMeds feature. EquivaMeds searches for lower cost options to your current drug and, if found, provides a report that you can share privately with your physician. EquivaMeds is offered to NYASAP association members, patients and families at a preferential price of $4.00. (A savings of $15.) You can try the system for free and will only be charged the $4.00 if savings are identified
